Emotional Wholeness

Mrs. Anne Lee

November 16, 2020

Human beings are made for relationships - The key is Emotional Wholeness.

Unless we are emotionally well, we will find it difficult to handle the daily pressures of life. It is a basic human need to feel loved and accepted. Ignorance and a lack of awareness of mental health struggles can cause us to unintentionally harm others and vice versa.

"Out of the heart, the mouth speaks."

Internet love scams have cheated Singaporeans of $4.6 million in 2019.

"The biggest disease known to mankind is loneliness."

We can be very lonely in a crowded room because of the inability to communicate things that are important to us, or by having different views that others find difficult to accept.

Loneliness can very easily lead to anxiety, depression and insomnia.

Mental health issues can eventually lead to physical health issues.

"Most people need love and acceptance more than they need advice.

Sometimes, in our desperation to find love and acceptance, we are led in the wrong direction.

A lot of emphasis nowadays is placed on physical wholeness i.e. image. Emotions are seen as a sign of weakness and this view is perpetuated by socio-cultural norms. People are afraid of judgement and rejection. Depression is a silent killer.

Don't be afraid to seek help.

Healthy family systems reflect healthy messages to us. Unhealthy family systems can give us a distorted view of ourselves. Parents with a lack of awareness can say and do things that unintentionally harm their children. Money cannot buy a healthy emotional well-being.

"My parents did not raise me, they merely invested in me."

You have the power to break your family's generational curse.

Don't allow yourself to become a victim of circumstance.

Four False Beliefs

  1. Perfectionist
  2. People-Pleaser
  3. Victim Mentality
  4. Defensive
Do you fall into any of these categories?

Are you a People-Pleaser?

Here is a symbolic analogy: people pleasers are just like sheep. You can trust a Shepherd to be a good Shepherd as long as there is a value-for-value relationship going on (respect). You can trust a wolf to be a wolf, because you can acknowledge the good and bad in a wolf, and the wolf never tries to be anything other than a wolf (trust). But you can never trust a sheep as long as someone or something more intimidating or dominant comes by to turn the sheep away from you. # truth

Emotions of the right kind, expressed in the proper way, make life beautiful, full and rich, and contribute to the enjoyment of living.

RESILIENCE

Don't give up till you've found the light at the end of the tunnel.
Know that you WILL get through it.
Hold on until you break through.
