where we’re all in a race

to play high stakes

in the dollar bill

ministry.

We live in a world

where psalms

are the sounds

of the raking of coins

on the decks of high-rolling yacht parties.

We live in a world

that’s raptured

by the litanies

of get-rich-quick schemes,

profiteering in emerging economies,

and betting on high-risk crypto-currency.

We live in a world

where capitalism

is spirituality ⁠—

Where we write the rules of the game,

and all Gods

are

unnecessary.
