The Last Few Rays of Summer

Sometimes you kind of just sit by the water and wonder if life could be any different.

If you wanted something to change; would that even be possible?

The sky is gorgeous tonight. It's a vivid pastel pink with bright orange and tangerine hues.

The clouds are the colour of a faded navy blue sweatshirt that’s been worn-in over many years, and I'm sure I'd find a faded tint of violet hidden somewhere within its fabric seams. I wonder if I touched them, would they feel like cashmere?

Hellerup, Copenhagen, Denmark

I never realised how fast airplanes fly. It was just in my sights a second ago, and now it's somewhere far across the sea.

That’s going to be us in about 5 days, isn’t it?

Have you ever thought about Father Time as a lonely god? One minute we're here, the next moment we're gone and Father Time just sits there, helpless, looking on... Do you think he feels our sorrow when he takes things away, even when he doesn't mean to? He must actually be a compassionate and gentle soul... He's watched so many years go by already, what's one more? He knows full well that "This, too, shall pass." He's the only one that will continue to live on... Father Time — Immortal.

I can hear the birds.

Aren’t they just beautiful?

They glide so swiftly over the shimmering blue sea.

I see Malmö.

The world is so small...

We're only oceans away.

We’ve traversed land and mountain, sky and sea, but we haven’t learnt to traverse time have we?

Father Time still stands just beyond the horizon, lying just beyond our reach.

I hear children conversing rather loudly over the waves.

I glimpse a family sitting on the docks, waiting for nightfall.

The sun is already beginning to set.

I hear music blasting out of a sailboat wandering East.

There are so many people living here:

What do they do? Do they miss anyone? Anything?

Are they truly happy?

This is the happiest country in the world, they say.

If that's true, I wish I'd live in Denmark.

The idea of "happiest” still seems so inconceivable to me.

There are loads of flies here.

'Water flies,' I guess, I'll call them.

They don’t bite, they just bother you.

The sky has turned a vintage amethyst, ruby and vermillion now.

The sea has turned a gorgeous, almost-turquoise blue.

The water is shining, and the clouds are greying...

Time continues to pass without me even realising.

It’s a different world when it’s dark, isn’t it?
