The Great Conjunction

December 21, 2020

Today - this sunset, to be exact - Jupiter and Saturn will meet. The closet they’ve ever been since 1623.

Jupiter and Saturn have been strong energetic guiding forces throughout my entire life. Jupiter: The bringer of luck and the representation of passion, drive and energy. Saturn: The rational one, the thinker, the one that is practical and hard-working.

I've always held both of their energies within me and I have always been guided by these two seemingly opposing forces of the cosmos.

Today, I cried. I cried as a witness to all the beauty in our world and I cried as a witness to all the pain and suffering that we humans have caused throughout the history of mankind. We plunder the great Gaia, our own Mother Earth, that has sustained us over millions of years and over thousands of generations. We think we're greater than God and we rule over others with our minds, and not our hearts.

I cried as a witness to the abundance of life that our planet has to offer: Our trees, the earth, our rivers, seas and oceans. I cried for all the love that I’ve seen and experienced in animals, in tribes, in rural communities that have been shunned as we structured our own ideas of modern society and forced nature to fit into that selfsame mould.

We have fallen in love with material things, guided by our greed and desire for status and class. We've started to measure value based off of superficial merits that do not take into account kindness, compassion, the goodness of the heart and the love of all living creatures.

When God entrusted animals into our care, we took advantage of their innocence. When He entrusted us with Paradise, we took advantage of the fact that Paradise doesn’t speak in a voice that we can hear and doesn't converse in a language that we can understand. It doesn't make them any less valuable, nor us any more special just because we're different.

Too many of us are blinded by the veil of knowledge, thinking that the more we 'know,' the more superior we are to other creatures that can't do the same. It's like when Adam and Eve defied God and ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. Yes, we have grown in knowledge, but we have grown in evil and malice as well. We have forgotten what it's like to be pure. We are so far removed from the innate laws of nature. So far removed from the connectedness and the oneness of the universe.

We are so lost. I see people grappling at anything and everything to give their lives meaning, even at the expense of life itself.

We need to wake up. We need to wake each other up. The natural world cannot coexist with our selfishness. We have lost touch of what it means to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We have lost touch with the spirit that lives within each and every one of us.

We need to go back. Remember where it is that where we came from. Only there will we find the answers we have been searching for. Only there will we find peace. Only there will we find love. Only there, will we find the truth.

We are greater than the shackles that chain us to this secular world. We are greater than our humanity.
