self-reflections.

May 10, 2020

How long does it take to recover from heartbreak and betrayal? I don't know, I guess we'll see. But in the meantime, I'll be focusing on me.

Today I would just like to thank God for all the blessings in my life. I thank God for giving me a reason to live, a passion, and a gift to be able to create. I remember this saying: "He makes all things beautiful in His time." I hope that the time will come soon where I can see and reap the fruits of my harvest.

I feel slightly overwhelmed with emotions, so I'm going to answer these 3 self-reflection questions just to centre myself and gain some clarity, perspective and control over my situation right now.

1. What makes you feel powerful?

I feel powerful when I am in control of my current state of mind. I feel powerful when I wake up in the morning - early - and start the day with a good workout, a mindful meditation and a healthy and wholesome breakfast. I feel powerful when my heart is open and when I am able to love and receive love freely and without restraint. I feel powerful when I am living my own truth, and when I am able to lay my heart on the line and be vulnerable. I feel powerful when I am able to inspire others with my story.

2. What makes you feel calm?

I feel calm when I am walking in nature, not in parks and man-made gardens, but swimming in the sea, trekking through forests, running in fields and hiking mountains. That's what makes me feel truly free, happy, calm, alive and at peace. I also really like a nice warm cup of tea, warm hugs and cosy cuddles, depending on the person that I'm with when I'm feeling stressed out. Another thing that makes me feel calm is a good, long chat with either one of my best friends, Veny or Nunt, because every time I enter into a conversation with them about my worries, I always leave with a sense of understanding, clarity and control over my life, my emotions and my situation. Thank God for these two! They have guided me through so many of my life issues.

3. What makes you feel in control?

I feel in control when I have quiet time to myself just to reflect, journal and create things, whether it be writing a song, editing photos, practicing the piano, drawing, painting or crafting DIY postcards - or any other artsy thing. Whenever I'm working on something creative, my mind and heart tend to slow down, and I'm able to focus and just take things one small step at a time.
